The Operating Theatre Manager reports to the Head of Medical Services, the role ensures high-quality nursing care through compliance, monitoring, and teamwork. The candidate will also oversee capacity building, mentoring, and training within a multidisciplinary quality framework.
The OT Manager will report to the Head of Medical Services, the selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating improved quality nursing care by ensuring compliance to professional and ethical practice. He / She will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that nursing care and service delivery is implemented and practiced within a multi-disciplinary quality assurance team. The selected candidate will be accountable for coordinating capacity building, mentoring and training.
Key Skills and Competencies
Qualifications Formal education required for competence in the job | Diploma in General Nursing or Diploma in Operating Room Science or equivalent. |
Experience | Minimum 2-4 years of experience in OT Management. |
Knowledge & Technical Competencies Registrations, Affiliations, Professional Certifications | - Strong understanding of operating theatre workflows, surgical procedures, infection control, and patient safety standards. - Proficient in OT scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of multidisciplinary surgical teams. - Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, equipment management, and sterilisation processes. - Ability to interpret clinical data, track KPIs, and drive quality improvement initiatives. - Familiarity with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards. - Competent in incident reporting, risk management, and implementation of corrective actions. - Strong understanding of healthcare quality standards, accreditation frameworks, and regulatory compliance. - Proficiency in health service planning, data-driven decision making, and use of oncology-related information systems. |
