MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. 
  • Open the transport front door for guests, greet and welcome them, check their luggage in their presence and direct them to the check-in (Reception).
  • Protect guests at either entrance from inclement weather.
  • Loading and unloading luggage from/to the vehicles.
  • Ensure that each piece of luggage stored has the hotel tag (filled in properly as per Hotel standards) on and the owner of the luggage receives the other part of the luggage tag.
  • Show the checked in guests to their rooms, make sure that everything in the room is in order (check the lights, ventilation, and heating).
  • Introduce the features of the room to the guests, explain them how to use the air-conditioning system, audiovisual systems and equipment, electronic “do not disturb”.
  • Give guests information about directions, the hotel, hotel area and local tourist attractions.
  • Giving directions to places of interest, sightseeing, shopping areas.
  • Coordinate the traffic of vehicles in front of the hotel (guests’ cars, limousines, taxis, minivans, buses).
  • Delivers all guest messages/faxes/letters/parcels to the guestrooms.
  • When guests have checked out, offer assistance with luggage (store it or carry to the vehicle).
  • To ensure Security of guest luggage left in your care and to safely store it and give guest a receipt.
  • Keep entrances clear and clean from litter.
  • To ensure that cold towels are well prepared and stocked as per the number of arrivals.
  • To maintain the lobby, the welcome corner clean, and, the jars for the welcome ice tea, other beverages, cookies and sweets are systematically replenished and are welcoming.
  • Report any accidents (guest or staff).
  • Take care in work to avoid accidents.
  • Report suspicious characters or suspect packages.
  • Care when lifting or moving heavy objects.
  • Ensure proper use of Club Cars, cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Advise Front Office Manager, Duty Manager or Security of any traffic problems.
  • Ensure full liaison with other members of the team.
  • Strong communication with other departments, especially Reception.
  • Strong relationship with guests and internal customers.
  • Accurate knowledge of hotel facilities and services.
  • Answer guest questions and resolve guest problems.
  • Be aware of daily functions, events, VIP and group arrivals.
  • If any equipment is not working properly, report this to the maintenance department.
  • Provide car valet service: drive the guests’ cars to and back from the Hotel’s designated Car parking whenever possible.
  • Maintain good relationship with all the departments of the hotel.
  • To comply with all company and local laws regarding Fire, Health and Safety procedure.
  • To be aware of fire procedures.
  • Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Act, local health and safety codes, and company safety and security policy.
  • Implement, maintain and continue to improve departmental policies, procedures and service standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy work area at all times (including the lobby and the area of the hotel entrance).
  • Attend all meetings assigned by the Front Office Manager.
  • Participate in training as and when requested by Management.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry heavy luggage and other items.
  • Basic knowledge of local attractions and services.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and French.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly and self-motivated personality eager to learn, develop and be part of a growing team.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
