Responsibilities:
Responsible for the management of the traffic department of a specific region and ensure provision of a reliable, efficient and professional service
Qualification:
A degree in transport management, Economics, Logistics or Accountancy from a recognized institution/university or an equivalent qualification.
Experience: candidates must have:
- At least 2 years post qualification experience at managerial level
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to team work
- Leadership skills
- Organizational, planning and time management skills
- Financial awareness and creative approach to problem solving
- Ability to think logically and make quick decisions
- IT skills
- An understanding of the transport sector
- A flexible approach to work as this job involve working early mornings, late afternoons and week ends
Duties:
- To ensure that bus routes are operated in an effective and efficient manner taking into account that each route has its own specificity
- To coordinate bus fleet operations with the various bus terminus and the traffic officers, taking into account service and fleet efficiency
- To review the bus fleet operations on a regular basis to adapt to the changing passenger patterns and new routes
- To prepare surveys on passenger patterns etc
- To prepare reports for submission to management as regards to revenue, ridership etc
- To represent the company at meetings
- To provide training as an when needed to traffic employees and ensure optimal staff utilization
- To coordinate with other departments for fleet availability
- Manage bus passenger’s complaints and expectations
- Undertake any other duties consistent with the job as and when required by management
