The Risk and Assurance Officer will assist the Head of Internal Audit & Risk Management and/or the Team Leader – Risk & Assurance in all tasks, including but not limited to policies and procedures evaluation, risk management, internal audits, special investigations.
We are looking for a meticulous and analytical Risk and Assurance Officer to support the organization in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, while ensuring internal controls and compliance frameworks are effective and aligned with best practices. The ideal candidate will contribute to improving operational resilience through audits, risk assessments, and assurance reviews.
Duties and Responsibilities
Risk Management
• Be part of the facilitation team for the risk management process within the Medine group.
• Adhere to the risk management guidelines in the conduct of risk management exercises/workshops.
• Help in the drafting and update of the business risk registers, reporting tools and dashboard for management and the Audit & Risk Committee.
• Help in the drafting of the risk management section of the Medine Integrated Report.
• Assist management team to build and maintain a risk driven culture throughout the organisation and to improve on the maturity of the group risk culture by living the values of Medine. E.g. Integrity.
Internal audit
• Schedule meetings (pre-audit, draft & exit) with auditees to develop an understanding of business processes being audited through the gathering of relevant documentation and information. E.g. Document request log.
• Develop a thorough understanding of business processes in scope for assigned audits and document the processes in flowcharts and/or process narratives/descriptions.
• Perform audit tests and prepare working papers in accordance with audit methodology and standards. Adhere to the internal audit methodology in the conduct of internal audit assignments.
• Evaluate the adequacy of process design and effectiveness of controls in meeting business objectives.
• Identify key control failures in the audited cycles and recommend, in audit reports, internal controls designed to mitigate financial, operational, financial and compliance risks by taking corrective, preventive, detective and directive measures.
• Organise and reference working papers for review by supervisor.
• Assist in the preparation of a concise and informative audit report
Internal Audit Execution
• Perform/assist internal audit assignments across different clusters/business units (e.g. surprise cash count, stock count).
• Perform follow-ups (on-site and off-site) on previous internal audits and/or other assignments in scope.
Collaborative Audit Engagements
• Support specific audit assignments (e.g. IT General and Application Controls, Health and Safety) in collaboration with a sourcing specialist.
Use of Tools and Technology
• Leverage Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.) for conducting internal audits and consulting services.
Compliance & Ethics Monitoring
• Assess adherence to internal policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and the Code of Ethics, and promptly escalate any concerns to the reporting line.
Reporting
• Identify key risks, perform tests on internal controls and report findings to your direct reporting line on a regular basis.
• Communicate audit findings to your direct reporting line, ensure business units/clusters receive quality, timely, risk-focused, efficient audit services and manage follow-up on open audit issues to ensure closure of action plans.
• Provide periodic progress report regarding planned, updated and discussed risk registers/audit reports.
• Assist in the process for reporting on risk management to the Audit & Risk Committee and on the reporting of the risk management section in the annual integrated report.
• Manage a variety of stakeholders and managing their expectations through regular communications, feedbacks and meetings.
• Foster and maintain good and effective work relationship with stakeholders. Ensure effective communication link is maintained within the department and absolute confidentiality is maintained throughout all processes/procedures/activities.
Policies and Procedures
• Participate in the formulation, review and implementation of internal audit policies, strategies, methodologies.
• Assist and facilitate various business entities of the group in the documentation of policies and procedures.
• Ensure consistency, conformity and standardisation of documented policies and procedures within the group.
Minimum education requirements
• Degree in Accounting or Finance or any related field.
• Partly ACCA qualified or studying for a professional recognised qualification.
