HR Officer
Compagnie de Beau Vallon Ltée is one of the main economic players in the South-East of Mauritius. Over the past fifteen years, the Group has significantly diversified its activities across key sectors including diversified agriculture, hospitality, and property development.
We are currently seeking a dynamic HR Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Group HR Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Group’s operations by providing Human Resources support across several clusters, including Agri-Business, Property and Leisure.
The role involves supporting managers on day-to-day people matters, coordinating recruitment and HR initiatives, and contributing to effective employee and industrial relations while ensuring compliance with labour legislation and Group policies.
Key Responsibilities
HR Administration & People Development
- Maintain and update employee records and HR databases.
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation, collective agreements, and applicable remuneration orders.
- Coordinate training activities, including follow-up of payments and reimbursements, and post-training evaluation.
- Manage recruitment processes based on departmental needs.
- Coordinate onboarding and induction processes for new employees.
- Support the implementation of performance management processes and professional interviews.
- Contribute to workforce planning and talent management initiatives (skills mapping, job descriptions updates, career development, succession planning, exits).
- Coordinate the procurement and distribution of uniforms and PPEs.
HR Business Partnering & Operational Support
- Act as the primary HR contact for assigned operational clusters.
- Identify HR needs and operational challenges in collaboration with department heads.
- Provide guidance and support to managers on HR-related matters, including labour law, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, career development, remuneration, disciplinary and termination procedures.
- Define, implement, and ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across operations.
Industrial & Employee Relations
- Handle employee requests, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
- Conduct investigations related to disciplinary cases and workplace conflicts.
- Prepare documentation and analysis for collective bargaining and union negotiations.
- Participate in meetings with trade union representatives where required..
- Ensure proper implementation and follow-up of collective agreements.
- Act as liaison with the Labour Inspectorate.
- Follow up labour-related cases with legal advisers.
Internal & External Communication
- Facilitate internal communication, acting as a key interface between management and employees.
- Communicate HR-related information to department heads and employees.
- Promote a positive social climate and contribute to a strong company culture through active listening and confidential employee support.
- Propose and support the organisation of internal events and initiatives.
- Provide regular reporting to the Group HR Manager.
Profile Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar HR generalist role.
- Experience in recruitment, employee relations and HR operations.
- Exposure to industrial relations or unionised environments would be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Mauritian labour legislation
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- High level of autonomy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
