Cost Surveyors and Estimators are crucial financial roles in construction.Estimators calculate the initial costs for a project to help win bids, while Cost Surveyors manage the project's budget from the planning phase through to completion, handling contracts, and financial control.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Meeting with clients to discuss the scope and scale of the project.
  • Collect and evaluate data on materials, labor, equipment, and time requirements
  • Collaborating with engineers, contractors and architects to obtain cost information
  • Consulting with industry experts to discuss cost estimates
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to determine costs.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and budgets.
    • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and risks.
    • Review and update estimates as project details change.
    • Present and explain cost summaries and estimates to management or clients.
  • Maintain records of estimates, cost data, and assumptions for future reference
  • Using computer software to calculate cost estimates
  • Reviewing expenditure statements during all phases of the project
Profiles:
  • Bachelors’ degree in engineering, construction  management, or a similar field
  • Proven work experience as a cost estimator
  • Advanced knowledge of construction and engineering processes
  • High level of mathematical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Proficient with computer estimator software
  • Good project management skills
  • Ability to travel
  • Possess a valid driving licence
