The Chief Supervisor is responsible for planning and execution of works (own works or subcontracted works) on one part of a large contract, a medium sized contract or a number of small contracts.
Duties:
- To assist Site Management in overall planning of works
- To allocate the supervision of works to Supervisors/Leading Hands on an ongoing basis
- To ensure that the programme of works given by the Site Engineer/Site Manager is followed on a day to day basis
- To draw internal and short term programmes for all sections, including subcontractors
- To closely monitor progress and take necessary measures to ensure progress does not fall behind programme
- To issue requests for information sufficiently in advance to avoid disruptions and delays
- To ensure the works are adequately resourced
- To ensure that labour resources are allocated to tasks so that the production levels fully cover the costs of resources
- To manage and optimize on resources (own labour, plant, materials & sub-contractors
- To regularly participate in Subcontractor Coordination Meetings
- To report to the Site Manager any changes in drawings and/or verbal/written instructions which impact on the progress of works
- To liaise with Safety Officers/Health and Safety Manager, MEP Coordinators, Land Surveyors and the like to ensure smooth running of site operations
- To attend all necessary meetings required for the smooth running of the site
- To ensure the activities of all subcontractors are well coordinated with the activities of the main contractor
- To ensure that all necessary sign offs are done by all subcontractors at all stages of the works
- To ensure quality of the works is monitored for all activities on site from the start – including own labour , labour only, domestic, nominated, selected and direct subcontractors
- To ensure that any items of work being paid for satisfies the Company’s standards, the Industry’s standards and the Project’s standards
- To ensure that all checklists are correctly filled in conjunction with Site Agent/Senior Chief Supervisor – Own Snagging
- To ensure that Labour Costing for each day is done on the eve of that day and that set targets are achieved or improved;(applicable mainly on certain sites)
- To keep a daily record of productions and productivity levels of all site operations
- To anticipate potential construction problems and initiate preventive attention/action
- To monitor overtime
Qualifications:
Higher School certificate and certificate in construction or equivalent
Experience:
Extensive experience in construction
Minimum of 10 years of experience in similar position
