Trainee Health and Safety- Part-time basis

To exercise general supervision regarding compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2005 and other related international regulations and conventions.

 

Major Accountabilities

  • To advise on all matters relating to the health and safety of employees
  • To advise on and help in the implementation of appropriate measures for the provision of such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure the safety and health of employees.
  • To plan, elaborate, implement and maintain adequate safety and health measures in the Company
  • To devise, design and achieve implementation of sets of departmental safety operational guidelines and evolve organizational safety policies including of Health and Safety manual.
  • To carry out inspection audits in the factory premises and advice on accident prevention strategies  
  • To ensure that all accidents and dangerous occurrences are thoroughly investigated with all available evidence gathered, reported, scrutinized and actively incorporated as part of reviews directed at preventing the repetition of such incidents.
  • To analyses, accidental occurrences and recommend injury leave to Management accordingly.
  • To carry out safety audits of hazardous storage and submit audit reports.
  • To attend court and deal with legal advisors in relation to accidents on site of work/damages to infrastructure.
  • Advise on necessary measures to implement the health and safety policy.
  • Conduct regular awareness sessions for employees on health and safety.
  • Review the health and safety risk assessment for all activities on site.
  • Conduct health and safety audit to identify risks to safety and health.
  • Advise management on practical measures to minimize any risk.
  • Design and implement appropriate health and safety training.
  • Develop effective communication systems on occupational safety and health between the employer and employees.
  • Enquire into all complaints, occupational accidents and dangerous occurrences and represent the company in meetings with relevant authorities.
  • Conduct site inspections and meetings with management at least once every month.
  • Drive safety and health committees at least once every two months.
  • Monthly dormitory inspection and ensure induction training are provided to employees
  • To ensure that all the duties set in the OSHA 2005, Section 20 is being respected.
  • To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from incumbents in the roles ascribed to them, and any other cognate duties.
