Job Title: Senior Risk Analyst

Department: Risk (Finance)

Job Summary

The Senior Risk Analyst will support the implementation and monitoring of the Group’s (Mauritius and East Africa) risk management framework, ensuring that risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and reported in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the RMF.
  • Ensure the RMF remains aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Assist the Risk Manager in the timely filling of the RMF to the regulator.
  • Timely report development/changes of risk management policies, risk appetite and risk limits to the Risk Manager. 
  • Implement the risk mitigation strategies of the Group’s  critical risks and ensure proper monitoring through risk reviews.
  • Assist the Risk Manager in the preparation of the Board of Directors’ Risk and Compliance Committee on a quarterly basis, as well as in the preparation of any other ad hoc report as and when requested.
  • Proactively work with business units to establish, maintain and continuously improve risk management capabilities. Where necessary, hold working sessions and forums for discussion with the relevant Heads of Departments.
  • Lead and facilitate the risk identification and risk assessment exercises across departments and entities (MU and EA)
  • Maintain and oversee the risk register, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Analyse risk exposures, trends and emerging risks that may impact the Group.
  • Monitor developments in the insurance industry, financial markets, technology, regulation and geopolitical environment to identify emerging risks.
  • Perform root cause analysis for significant incidents and risk events.
  • Assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies and internal controls.
  • Support the development, review and monitoring of the Risk Appetite Statements together with the Risk Tolerance Levels
  • Prepare and present comprehensive risk reports and dashboard for senior management and the Risk and Compliance Committee.
  • Promote and support the development of a strong risk culture across the organisation by enhancing awareness and understanding of risk management principles and practices.
  • Lead risk awareness and training sessions for staff to strengthen understanding of the organisation’s risk management framework and responsibilities.
  • Support the governance and oversight of the Business Continuity Management (BCM).
  • Lead business continuity testing, scenario analysis and simulation exercises.
  • Assess organizational preparedness for potential disruptions.
  • Participate in risk-related projects and initiatives ad required.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the Risk Manager in support of the Risk Management function.Job Requirements

 Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management/finance/accounting/economics or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in risk management / internal audit or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in risk management / internal audit or equivalent
  • Ability to challenge and influence stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to independently solve problems with the use of data
  • Strong attention to detail          
  • Coping with pressures and setbacks
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement
