We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead our financial operations and provide strategic oversight for our construction projects and ensuring the accuracy of project-based accounting, managing cash flow across multiple sites.
Project Accounting & WIP: Manage revenue recognition using the Percentage of Completion (POC) method and oversee Work in Progress (WIP) schedules.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with industry-specific accounting standards.
Cost Control & Analysis: Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors to reconcile project budgets against actual spend; investigate and report on significant variances.
Cash Flow Management: Monitor project-specific cash flows, including the management of retentions, mobilization fees, and supplier payment cycles.
Tax & Compliance: Oversee VAT filings, payroll taxes, and ensure all statutory requirements for construction firms (e.g., subcontractor tax certificates) are met.
Audit & Internal Controls: Lead the annual audit process and maintain rigorous internal controls to prevent leakage and ensure financial integrity.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or CPA) is required
Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years specifically within the construction or engineering sector.
Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction-specific accounting (Retentions, Back-charges, Performance Bonds, and AIA-style billing).
Technical Proficiency: Advanced MS Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300 Construction, or SAP).
Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial Project Managers.
