The main purpose of the role is to lead the design, optimization and automation of our enterprise data environment.

 

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will be responsible for ensuring that our data architecture is scalable, secure, automated and aligned with business objectives.

You will work closely with IT and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality, reliable and actionable data is available across the organization.

The incumbent will report to the Lottery IT Operations Manager and the main duties will be:

Key Role / Responsibilities:

  • To design and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models.
  • To lead the development and optimization of the data warehouse.
  • To develop and manage ETL pipelines using SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory.
  • To develop automation scripts using Python to streamline data processing and reporting.
  • To drive data automation initiatives using RPA tools (Power Automate, UiPath or similar).
  • To manage Azure SQL, SQL Server and cloud-based data environments.
  • To ensure data quality, performance, integrity and security across platforms.
  • To implement and enforce data governance and compliance standards.
  • To develop and optimize Power BI data models, including advanced DAX calculations.
  • To troubleshoot complex system and performance issues.
  • To mentor junior team members and promote best practices in automation and data management.
  • To develop and maintain business requirement documentation, technical specifications, and periodic management reports.

Profile:

  • Degree in IT, Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering or database management.
  • Strong expertise in SQL and enterprise data warehouse design.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure cloud services.
  • Strong Python programming skills for automation and data engineering.
  • Good knowledge of Power BI data modelling and DAX.
  • Experience with RPA / automation tools is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, security and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical thinking and leadership capability.
