The Accounts specialist will be responsible for payroll processing, fixed asset register maintenance, accounts payable functions, compliance with customs regulations in Mauritius, and maintaining accurate and well-organized financial and statutory filing systems
Main Accountabilities
Post payroll management,
- by maintaining and processing records, including employee earnings, deductions, and return of statutory contributions
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and statutory requirements
- Prepare payroll reports and support payroll audits
Fixed Asset Register
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation
- Perform periodic fixed asset verification and reconciliations
- Ensure proper capitalization and compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Other Duties
- Process and verify supplier invoices and ensure appropriate approvals
- Prepare and process supplier payments in line with agreed terms
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate accounts payable records and supporting documents Customs Compliance (Mauritius)
- Support compliance with Mauritius customs regulations for import and export activities
- Ensure proper preparation, submission, and filing of customs-related documentation (e.g. bills of entry, invoices, certificates of origin)
- Monitor changes in customs duties and regulations and ensure accurate financial recording
- Assist with customs audits and inquiries from the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) Filing & Record Management
- Maintain systematic and up-to-date filing of accounting, payroll, fixed asset, accounts payable, and customs documentation
- Ensure both physical and electronic records are properly labeled, archived, and easily retrievable • Comply with internal controls and statutory document retention requirements
- Support audits by providing timely access to organized financial records General Accounting Support
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and management reports
- Respond to internal and external accounting queries
- Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience
- Knowledge of payroll and payroll softwares will be a definite advantage
- Good Knowledge of fixed assets, accounts payable, and statutory compliance in Mauritius
- Familiarity with Mauritius customs regulations
- Proficiency in accounting systems (ERP) and MS Excel
- Strong attention to detail,
