The United Basalt Products Ltd is seeking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Research & Development Trainee for a 3 to 6-month internship within its Research and Development Department.

Key responsibilities:

• Carry out sampling of industrial waste materials (soil and rock dust).
• Perform characterisation tests on industrial waste materials.
• Develop formulations for compressed earth bricks.
• Manufacture compressed earth bricks using a press.
• Conduct performance testing on the compressed earth bricks produced.
• Perform comparative analysis of the different formulations developed.
• Ensure basic maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment used.

Candidate profile:

• Civil Engineering student currently pursuing a BEng (Year 2 or Year 3).
• Strong interest in research and development activities.
• Accountable, solution-oriented and committed.
• Attention to detail and adherence to health and safety requirements.
• Team player with a proactive and positive attitude.

Work location:

The trainee will be based at the laboratory in Geoffroy (Bambous) to carry out all required testing and experimental work.
