Our client is seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant who will report to the Financial Administrator. The Senior Accountant will serve as the primary point of contact for financial guidance and administrative support within the organization.

 

This role requires professionalism and diligence when providing advice and assistance to the leadership team, the Financial Administrator, and other relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Account Monitoring and Claims:
  • Prepare annual computations for claims from each entity and communicate the information clearly and effectively.
  • Monitor outstanding balances regularly, ensuring accounts reconcile accurately.
  • Encourage repayment of overdue amounts and collaborate on strategies to improve financial health.
  • Work with local teams to identify initiatives for revenue generation.

Financial Strategies:
  • Provide support on strategic financial matters as needed.
  • Liaise with banks for loans and manage related documentation.
  • Facilitate lending and borrowing processes between entities, ensuring proper validation and documentation.

Collaboration with Treasurers:
  • Act as a key contact for treasurers, offering timely and accurate financial information.
  • Communicate promptly on significant financial measures.
  • Organize regular meetings to gather feedback, provide guidance, and support volunteer treasurers.

Supervision & Relationship Management:
  • Oversee and guide the work of employees involved in financial operations.
  • Build strong working relationships and maintain proximity with teams, including on-site visits when necessary, even outside standard working hours.

Preparation of Financial Accounts and Related Services:
  • Prepare annual budgets and gather data from all relevant functions.
  • Produce bi-annual financial reports with variance analysis and recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including volunteers.
  • Ensure proficiency in the accounting system for effective task execution.

Other Projects - Fundraising Initiatives:
  • Actively participate in planning and implementing fundraising projects.
  • Establish financial controls and ensure compliance.
  • Set up mechanisms for fund collection and oversee cash handling.
  • Report on receipts promptly and maintain accountability to donors.

Data Protection:
  • Lead data protection initiatives in collaboration with consultants and IT contractors.
  • Prepare documentation and conduct awareness campaigns for staff.

Charitable Organizations:
  • Support financial oversight of affiliated charitable entities.
  • Liaise with auditors and company secretaries as needed.
  • Assist operational teams with legal and administrative matters upon request.
Profile:

  • University Degree / Membership to a recognised accounting body (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CFA or equivalent).
  • Ability to lead and to collaborate on various files simultaneously with ease and rigour.
  • Good written communication skills in both English and French, with the ability to produce high quality documents.
  • Leadership experience with proven ability to manage projects and teams.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with the employees, the clergy and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Confident public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the teachings and values of the Catholic church.
  • Demonstrate a good balance between financial and managerial discipline with pastoral priorities.
