Chemtech is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Business Unit. This is a leadership role offering the opportunity to shape strategy, drive growth, and lead high-performing teams within a diversified and dynamic organisation.
About the Role
As Head of Business Unit, you will have full responsibility for the strategic direction, commercial performance, and operational excellence of your assigned unit. You will play a key role within the Chemtech Leadership Team, working closely with executive leadership and shared services to deliver sustainable growth, strong financial results, and outstanding customer value.
Key Responsibilities:
Business & Financial Leadership
- Own and drive the financial performance of the business unit, including revenue growth, profitability, and cost control
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance plans aligned with Chemtech’s overall strategy
- Track performance using KPIs and taking decisive corrective action where required
Strategy & Growth
- Define and execute the business unit’s strategic plan
- Identify market trends, customer needs, and new growth opportunities
- Lead product, pricing, and go-to-market strategies to strengthen market position
Commercial & Sales Excellence
- Lead the full sales cycle from opportunity development to deal closure
- Build strong, long-term relationships with key customers and partners
- Oversee major proposals, tenders, and negotiations
- Drive strong pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and CRM discipline
Operational Alignment
- Ensure effective collaboration between sales, operations, supply chain, marketing, and support teams
- Uphold Chemtech’s standards for quality, compliance, safety, and service delivery
- Champion continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction
People Leadership
- Inspire, lead, and develop a high-performing business unit team
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results
- Support talent development and succession planning
Governance & Risk
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal governance requirements
- Identify and manage commercial, operational, and market risks
What We’re Looking For:
Experience & Background
- Proven experience leading a business unit, commercial division, or sales-driven operation
- Strong track record in driving growth, managing P&L performance, and building customer relationships
- Experience working within structured organisations with clear governance and performance standards
Skills & Competencies
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into execution
- Excellent sales leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Customer-focused, results-driven, and highly organised
- Inspirational people leader with a collaborative leadership style
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Engineering, Science, or any related field
- MBA or equivalent is an advantage but not essential.
