Our client, a trusted and well-established player in the pharmaceutical business is looking for a Technical Sales Executive.

 

JOB PURPOSE 

To drive sales growth and customer engagement for analytical portfolios, with a specialised focus on GC and LC-MS applications. This hybrid role combines commercial acumen with technical expertise to deliver tailored solutions, support product demonstrations, and ensure post-sales satisfaction.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Efficiency

  • Participate in development of the company product portfolio through identification and onboarding of new suppliers through professional networking.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets for departmental product lines.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across academic, industrial, and government sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and channel partners.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations, proposals, and quotations.
  • Negotiate contracts and close deals in alignment with company policies and margin expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, forecasts, and customer interactions in CRM systems.
  • Acts as the main point of contact between suppliers and clients in both public and private sectors.
  • Manage team of Sales Support officers to ensure smooth sales operations.
  • Oversees order fulfilment and delivery coordination, including supplier negotiations, client updates, and collaboration with internal departments to ensure timely dispatch from customs or warehouse.
  • Supports project execution and client onboarding, working with Aftersales for installations, ensuring documentation (warranty, commissioning) is completed, and conducting client training on equipment usage and testing. 

Application Specialist Operations

  • Provide technical support and expertise to clients throughout evaluation, purchase, and implementation of lab equipment.
  • Conduct demonstrations, workshops, and training (on-site and virtual) on equipment use, maintenance, and safety.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, calibration, validation, and optimization of instruments as and when required.
  • Support sales by providing technical guidance, answering queries, and offering application insights.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and liaise with suppliers for advanced support, updates, and installations.

Revenue Generation    

  • Accountable for achieving sales targets and departmental KPI’s.
  • Tracks quarterly performance targets, ensures timely order fulfilment, and maintains proactive client follow-up.
  • Engages with senior leadership (MD and COO–Projects) for project updates, especially for high-value projects.
  • Handles client interactions confidently, escalating only when necessary, and keeps the MD informed on project progress.

Customer Experience

  • Builds and maintains strong client relationships, actively engages with the engineering and scientific community, including via LinkedIn.
  • Manages key account portfolios and client visits, ensuring prompt handling of complaints within 24 hours.
  • Attends supplier fairs to strengthen existing partnerships and explore new business opportunities.

People Management

  •  Manage, motivate, guide and coach the team members to ensure achievement of required employee productivity levels, optimum performance, team objectives
  • Request necessary training, coaching or support as and when required to optimise performance of job to achieve objectives of the Department
  • Provide training, mentoring or coaching to new recruits.
  • Manage a productive relationship with the suppliers, motivating them to local demonstrations and workshops together with the staff training.
  • Ensure that laboratory sales team is given the appropriate product training, web sessions and seminars to increase product and technical knowledge.
  • Ensure team spirit and manage conflict between team members and or inter department conflict to ensure and promote a good working environment.
  • Fosters a collaborative and supportive work environment.

KEY DIMENSIONS

  • Product & Technical Knowledge.
  • Selling laboratory solutions (e.g. equipment, reagents, LIMS/ELN) requires a solid scientific background in chemistry or engineering.
  • CRM & Sales Operations: Use tools to track opportunities, maintain organized pipelines, forecast, and report in a regulated environment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with department
  • Leadership: excellent communication and team leadership skills. 

DECISION MAKING

  • Regulatory Constraints & Compliance: Ensuring all promotional and technical communication aligns with evolving local and international regulations; staying compliant without slowing sales momentum.
  • Complex Scientific Messaging: Rapidly and accurately distilling product mechanism, or validation data, safety profiles, and technical specs—tailored to diverse audience types.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in science and engineering related subject.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in sales of products and equipment.
  • Experience with sales or application of complex chemical instrumentation (e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS, etc.) would be an advantage.
  • Oriented towards marketing and sales strategies with a strong client-focused approach.
  • Extroverted and proactive, regularly engaging with clients in the field to develop business opportunities.
  • Problem Solving & Analytical Thinking: Diagnoses technical issues and proposes effective solutions.
  • Applies scientific reasoning to application challenges.
  • Demonstrates influence and persuasiveness in building relationships and driving sales.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively, providing clients and colleagues with accurate information to support informed purchasing decisions.

  • Understands customer needs and ensures timely, relevant, and accurate responses and solutions.
  • Plans and prioritizes work effectively, accurately estimating time and resources needed to achieve objectives.

  • Delivers on commitments and complies with company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Comfortable using CRM and reporting tools to manage client interactions and track performance.

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with suppliers and customers.
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.
