Role Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join the Finance team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a diverse regional group involved in multiple jurisdictions across Africa.

The successful candidate will not only support day-to-day accounting and reporting functions but will also gain hands-on exposure to tax, compliance, and internal audit processes. This position provides an excellent platform to develop a strong foundation in IFRS reporting, group consolidation, and multi-country operations - ideal for someone looking to grow into a well-rounded finance professional.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and monitor cash positions for all Mauritius entities.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register in accordance with company policy.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and assist in variance analysis.
  • Capture daily financial transactions accurately in SYSPRO.
  • Verify and process new beneficiaries on the electronic banking platform.
Reporting & Consolidation
  • Prepare and maintain the monthly balance sheet reconciliation file.
  • Assist in the preparation and consolidation of management accounts.
  • Compile the intercompany and intra-company transaction matrix and related reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
Tax, Compliance & Internal Audit
  • Support the administration of the company's tax affairs and statutory obligations.
  • Assist with compliance monitoring and preparation of documentation for internal audits.
  • Work closely with the Internal Audit team to strengthen control processes and reporting integrity.
  • Liaise with external auditors during year-end audits.
Budgeting & Analysis
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process for group entities.
  • Support the finance team in analytical reviews and performance reporting.
Administrative & Other
  • Provide support with marketing or administrative initiatives as needed.
  • Undertake ad hoc tasks assigned by the Financial Manager or Chief Financial Officer.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Degree in Accounting/Finance (ACCA Level 2 or equivalent preferred).
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or audit.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
