Tropical Paradise Co. Ltd, a leading hospitality group in Mauritius renowned for its commitment to excellence and innovation, is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Group Financial Accountant to join our Finance team.

 

Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Finance and Procurement Department, ensuring effective internal controls, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements. The role involves managing payroll, budgets, expenses, and revenues while maintaining transparency and efficiency across all financial activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain detailed hotel accounts and prepare monthly and year-end financial statements.

  • Assist in budget preparation in collaboration with the Group Finance Manager.

  • Review and enhance accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls, reporting issues to the Group Finance Manager.

  • Supervise, train, and support the Finance Team to ensure adherence to the Group’s Financial Accounting Policies and Procedures (FAPP).

  • Oversee the work of subordinates including Income Auditor, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, General Cashier, Store, Paymaster, and Night Auditors.

  • Maintain and update the Chart of Accounts and ensure accurate reconciliations of all balance sheet items.

  • Verify and approve payment vouchers, cheques, and journal entries before management authorization.

  • Ensure compliance with all tax, license, and regulatory obligations.

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors and ensure complete audit files are maintained.

  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and financial analyses to support management decision-making.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Group Finance Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACCA/CPA qualified or equivalent professional qualification.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a group or hospitality environment.

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax legislation, and consolidation processes.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Navision, SAP, or similar ERP).

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
