We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial reporting, ensure compliance, and support effective decision-making.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Prepare financial statements, monthly closing reports, and cost accounting reports in a timely manner.
  • Summarize the company’s current financial status by preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
  • Analyse revenue and expenditure trends, recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure effective expenditure control.
  • Document financial transactions by entering and maintaining accurate account information.
  • Recommend financial actions by analysing accounting options.
  • Substantiate financial transactions through auditing and verifying supporting documents.
  • Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain robust accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the accounting team, providing guidance and coordinating daily activities.
  • Work closely with the storekeeper to ensure proper stock control and conduct periodic physical checks.
  • Prepare costing sheets for all imports, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Liaise with external auditors to facilitate the completion of audits.
  • Safeguard financial information by performing database backups.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Partly or fully qualified ACCA.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing a team within the accounts function.
  • Knowledge of the VAT Act, Income Tax Act, and Customs procedures.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Experience with accounting software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across the organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and management accounts.
  • Highly detail oriented.
