Our client is seeking to recruit a reliable and hardworking Operations Supervisor to join its team in Seychelles. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in the cement packaging and distribution process, ensuring the products meet the highest standards.
Responsibilities:
Health & Safety Management
Comply with the company Group Health & Safety Management by:
- Abiding to group Policies and H&S Rules and following Procedures scrupulously.
- Reporting any dangerous situation, near misses or unsafe act/condition to management and through VPCs.
- Participating in and contributing to safety month activities or other safety related events organized by the company.
- Leading/Attending daily tool box talks and reporting to Management on outcomes of tool box talks.
- Ensuring PPE compliance by employees, contractors, clients and visitors in areas earmarked as PPE mandatory sites.
- Maintaining records of all PPEs issued to all employees and contractors by the company.
- Perform risk analysis of activities to be performed by the incumbent, employees and contractors, as and when required.
- Keeping management informed of all new work processes put in place in the relevant department to enable a proper risk analysis.
- In case of incident, conduct Root cause analysis and take adequate measures.
- Regularly reviewing and updating safety procedures in line with evolving operational risks and compliance requirements.
Cement Terminal Supervision:
Receipt of Cement:
- Supervising the discharging of cement from ships.
- Communicating constantly with ships during discharging operations.
- Recording and agreeing with ship's Master on tonnage of cement received.
- Supervising the loading of silos and/or relevant facilities.
- Ensuring environmental compliance during discharge and loading operations.
Production and daily operation:
- Plan and supervise the daily Terminal operations including bagging and delivery of cement.
- Follow up bags production, bulk delivery& ensure targeted daily closing stocks are met.
- Ensure that all workers abide to the HR policy of the group.
- Prepare and submit all reports according to deadlines.
- Ensure correct number of bags delivered and no lorry leave loading bays without proper control measure.
- Weight monitoring of daily production as per procedures in place.
- Controlling and recording attendance of both full-time employees and casual workers.
- Schedules, plans and conducts regular meetings with production teams regarding work to be performed.
- Work with the foreman for a good preventive and intervention maintenance accordingly to urgencies.
- Ensure housekeeping of whole Terminal by following up housekeeping frequency plan by proper guidance and instruction to workforce.
- Driving operational efficiency initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within the terminal.
- Assist the Terminal Manager as and when required.
Ensure proper maintenance and repair to terminal equipment by:
- Ensuring maintenance schedule is being respected.
- Controlling the stock of equipment spare parts to always ensure availability.
- Perform monthly inventories of all spare parts in the workshop and maintain housekeeping and record books.
- Advise Terminal Manager when to order the necessary spare parts (both locally and overseas).
- Contacting external maintenance contractors for quotations, when necessary, evaluating quotations together with the Terminal Manager.
- Supervising the maintenance work undertaken (both internally and by external contractors) to ensure completion within acceptable timeframes and to satisfaction.
- Ensuring the availability of all resources (manpower & spare parts) for equipment servicings undertaken by external contractors.
- Organising and monitoring the prompt repairs of terminal equipment breakdowns to as to minimize machine downtime.
- Reporting to the Terminal Operations Manager on the repair work undertaken.
- Ensuring that maintenance work required in the office buildings is done according to plan.
- Documenting and reviewing maintenance activities for efficiency and performance metrics.
Profile:
- Advanced/Technical diploma/certificate in industrial-mechanical and /or electrical fields/or Higher diploma with minimum three years in a similar role.
- Minimum 5 years in operations/terminal/plant supervision, knowledge of cement industry is a plus.
- Holder of valid driving licence and forklift experience.
- Skills and competencies: leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, communication, planning, HSE compliance, equipment handling, Microsoft office skills especially Excel.
- Encumbent must be able to Work at Height.
- Ability to react quickly and take initiative.
- Flexible and willing to work odd hours.
- Good communications skills verbal and written.
