The Stock & Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management of inventory and distribution operations in Mauritius.
This includes ensuring accurate stock levels, optimizing storage and warehouse procedures, streamlining logistics, and supporting business continuity in a fast-moving and high-demand environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, a hands-on approach, and experience in international supply chains and electrical product distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory & Stock Management
- Maintain optimal stock levels to meet sales and operational targets.
- Monitor and control inventory accuracy using ERP/WMS systems.
- Conduct regular stock audits, reconciliations, and cycle counts.
- Minimize stock obsolescence and shrinkage.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
Warehouse & Distribution Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse.
- Lead a team of warehouse and logistics staff with clear KPIs.
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely delivery to customers and branches.
- Implement best practices for goods storage, layout optimization, and inventory flow.
Logistics & Transport
- Liaise with local and international freight forwarders and transport providers.
- Ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods both locally and regionally.
- Oversee customs clearance and import/export documentation compliance.
- Coordinate last-mile delivery solutions and route planning.
Planning & Reporting
- Collaborate with the sales and procurement teams to align inventory with demand forecasts.
- Prepare and present regular reports on stock turnover, distribution performance, and risks.
- Participate in supply chain planning, budget control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Management & Development
- Lead, train, and develop the warehouse and distribution team.
- Foster a culture of efficiency, safety, and accountability.
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimization and system enhancements.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., APICS, CIPS, Lean Six Sigma) are an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in stock, warehouse, or distribution management.
- Experience in the electrical industry or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience managing ERP/WMS systems (SAP or similar).
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to lead teams in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent knowledge of warehousing, logistics, and distribution best practices.
- Familiarity with international trade and import/export regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory software tools.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
