Trainee Operations Executive
Location: Port Louis, Mauritius
Reports To: Marine Surveyor
Department: Marine Survey & Inspection, Port Agency
This is an entry-level role designed to train and mentor you into a qualified Marine Surveyor. You’ll assist experienced surveyors in conducting cargo, draft, and out-turn surveys, and help prepare reports within three days of survey completion. This hands-on role involves shipboard attendance, document handling, and supporting operational efficiency.
Assist senior surveyors in cargo and draft surveys
Support accurate and timely survey report preparation
Attend vessels onsite across port facilities when required
Maintain effective ship agency service and quick vessel turnaround
Coordinate arrival/sailing arrangements and collect required documentation (e.g., Statement of Facts)
Collaborate with peers across locations to improve service delivery
Help identify cost-saving methods and operational efficiencies
Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies
Take part in other assigned tasks and learning opportunities
Learn and apply industry standards and best practices
Follow HSSE and compliance rules
Submit high-quality survey findings and reports on time
Contribute to client engagement and service delivery
Ensure consistent coordination and documentation
Essential:
Knowledge of port/shipping operations
Strong verbal and written communication
Good numeracy skills
Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
Analytical thinking and confidentiality
Desirable:
Knowledge of Mauritius port laws
Marine background
Valid driving license
Team player attitude
Essential:
Diploma in Marine Studies
Computer literacy and use of internal systems
Sound knowledge of shipping practices
Desirable:
Driving license
Marine work experience
Ability to work under stress and long hours
Quality and consistency in reports and findings
Interaction and cooperation with colleagues
Ability to support client marketing and service follow-up
Reports and invoices to be generated monthly
