JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:                    Copywriter and Content specialist

Campus:                     Mauritius

Reporting to:             Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment

 

 

Overall Purpose:

The Copywriter will be part of the Content Studio team and is a key contributor within the Marketing Operations function, responsible for producing compelling, engaging, and high-quality written content that reflects the University’s voice, appeals to target audiences, and supports marketing objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of audience behaviour, market trends, and effective storytelling to drive engagement, increase conversions, and strengthen brand presence across multiple platforms. The role will work with both internal and external stakeholders, as directed by the Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment.

Together, you will contribute to delivering a cohesive and impactful content strategy that aligns with the university’s high standards.

Principal Duties:

  • Develop clear, persuasive, and original copy for a range of mediums, including press releases, advertisements, websites, email campaigns, social media, and marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to deliver cohesive and impactful campaigns.
  • Create scripts to support customer journeys across key touchpoints.
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of products, services, target audiences, and industry trends to inform content strategy.
  • Edit, proofread, and refine copy to ensure grammatical accuracy, consistency with brand guidelines, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Apply best practices to improve content visibility and optimise performance across digital platforms.
  • Interpret creative briefs and technical information to produce engaging concepts and deliverables.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery while upholding high standards of quality.
  • Keep up to date with industry developments, emerging technologies, and competitor activity to encourage innovation and maintain relevance.

 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

The role description will be subject to the candidate’s experience and qualification.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a copywriter or similar role within a professional environment.
  • Excellent computing skills and experience of working with MS Office and database applications.
  • Familiarity with the structure of the British education system and preferably, other regional competitive education systems.
  • Proficiency in relevant digital tools for Digital Asset Management.

The above list is not exclusive or exhaustive and working as part of the Marketing and Student Recruitment team. The postholder will be expected to work closely with all members of the team, provide cover and assistance when necessary, and participate within the team as requested in such areas as communication and general office organisation. Other duties and projects will be added as required by the Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment.
