Location: Grand Baie, Mauritius

Are you detail-oriented, highly analytical, and fluent in global trade regulations? We're looking for a Trade Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic team in Grand Baie. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual with a strong command of English and a passion for international trade and logistics to play a vital role in ensuring smooth cross-border operations.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (essential)

  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail

  • Strategic problem-solving and the ability to work under pressure

  • High level of organisation, time management, and cross-functional coordination

  • Ability to communicate technical and regulatory information clearly to both internal teams and external stakeholders

ROLE OVERVIEW:
Trade Compliance is defined as “the process and procedures by which goods enter and exit a country and adhere to any laws, rules, regulations and requirements of the country from which the goods are being imported or exported.”

Trade compliance incorporates many different aspects of international trading, including classification, trade risk, taxes and import duties, and country-specific import licensing and approvals.

As a Trade Compliance Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing subject matter expertise on:

    1. Duties, taxes, and levies

    2. Product classification

    3. Licensing and permit requirements, including product testing and certification

  • Sourcing compliance documentation as required, including effective communication with OEMs/Tech Manufacturers and internal teams

  • Delivering accurate, efficient, and optimized trade compliance solutions that ensure timely shipment clearance and a high standard of client service

  • Mitigating risk and managing stakeholder expectations through strategic planning and problem-solving

  • Leveraging data-driven insights to enhance operational workflows, reduce delays, and increase shipment success rate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent High School academic results

  • Undergraduate university degree in any field

  • Honours degree is an advantage
