Site Engineer / Trainee Site Engineer

The TSE needs to assist the Site Engineer for the performance of one part of a large contract, a medium sized contract or a number of small contracts while the latter is responsible for the performance of one part of a large contract, a medium sized contract or a number of small contracts.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. 1.     Quality
  • To ensure the company’s Quality Assurance System is implemented
  • To review and provide suggestions on improvements to the company’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control System
  • To ensure quality of the works is monitored for all activities on site from the start – including labour only, domestic, nominated, selected and direct subcontractors
  • To ensure that any items of work being paid for satisfies the Company’s standards, the Industry’s standards and the Project’s standards
  • To strive to get all activities executed right first time
  • To ensure all necessary tests on completion are performed sufficiently in advance
  • To assist in the contract close-out process
  • To ensure the end product meets or exceeds contract specifications
  • To ensure all materials used by the Company and subcontractors have been approved and records of all such approvals are kept
  1. 2.     Planning
  • To draw internal and short term programme for all sections, including subcontractors
  • To ensure areas are safe and ready for subcontractors to be given access timeously
  • To closely monitor progress and take necessary measures to ensure progress does not fall behind programme
  • To ensure the works are adequately resourced
  • To assist in the quarterly financial forecast updates (retender and forecasts)
  • To compile all Bar Bending Schedules timeously and chase for approval by the Structural Engineer and Construction Surveyor
  1. 3.     Contractual
  • To assist to safeguard the company’s Contractual Rights
  • To assist to monitor time bars on contractual claims and notifications
  • To assist in fulfilling contractual obligations

 1.4.     General

  • To assist in the setting up the site with due regards to safety, welfare and operational efficiency
  • To communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including regular open communication with the workforce
  • To demonstrates a customer centric behaviour
  • To ensure Company procedures and policies are strictly adhered to
  • To ensure all idle plant, equipment , vehicles, labour, staff or other resource is immediately removed off site
  • To assist in resolving all technical and site issues
  • To ensure all operations are executed as efficiently as possible
  • To assist in putting together all necessary reports (meeting reports, progress reports, monthly dashboards, etc.)
  • To assists in issuing correspondences after reviewing with the relevant parties, where required
  • To uphold the Company’s interests, image and reputation
    • To abide to Company’s Code of Conduct
    • To safeguard confidential information and observe the rule of discretion and confidentiality at all times
    • To instill a culture of continuous improvement

Qualifications & Others
Degree in relevant field and proven experience

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Well disciplined & systematic in information compilation.
  • Thorough understanding of the compilation of the tender.
  • Sound knowledge of measurement which is prime. Knowledge of quantity surveying disciplines together with a broad understanding of the construction industry.
