Our client in the Logistic / Warehousing sector is seeking to recruit a Mechanic who will report to the Operator in Charge.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install facility machinery.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility machinery.
  • Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
  • Communicate with operators from other shifts.
  • Maintain and secure work tools.
  • Clean and maintain work area.
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  • Follow up of maintenance plan.
  • Ensure regular inspections/carried out.
  • Ensure proper filing of inspections/maintenance checklists.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping in workshop.
  • Assist in spare parts management.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping of the Terminal, workshop, electrical, and switch room at all times.
  • Ensure on time fault reporting.
  • Ensure integrity of firefighting items.
  • Ensure the safe operation of the terminal, maintain awareness for personal and co-workers safety, and ensure knowledge and compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Execute cargo transfers according to loading/discharge plans or intra-terminal transfer plans, operations manual and SHEQ Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Perform all daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance and compliance inspections, and maintain required logs as appropriate.
  • Ensure that all terminal equipment, including safety devices and systems are functioning properly, and report any and all equipment failures to supervisor.
  • Perform daily walk around inspections to identify any potential risks and ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
  • Conduct preventive and routine maintenance on various operating equipment.
  • Routine inspections and testing of terminal fire-fighting pumps and detection equipment.
  • Calibrate and adjust additive injection system as required.
  • Ensure that all contractors, customers and vendors follow company/terminal policies and procedures when accessing or working in the Terminal.
  • Communicate product outages and equipment downtime to appropriate individuals.
  • Participate in emergency situations as required.
  • Facilitate Security duties according to ISPS requirements.
  • Incident Reporting.
Profile:

  • School Certificate.
  • City & Guilds certificate.
  • BT Polytechnique or its equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar job.
  • Previous experience in oil/gas related business is preferred.
  • Mechanically inclined, problem-solving abilities and mathematics capabilities.
  • Good communication skills in both English and French.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Well-balanced interpersonal skills.
  • Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanour/attitude with co-workers, clients and representatives of authorities.
  • Must be safety and environmentally sensitive.
  • Experience working with computers including Microsoft Office products, in particular Word and Excel.
  • Valid driving license.

The job may from time to time be physically demanding. Whilst the company will as far as is reasonably practicable, ensure the health and safety of its employees in the exercise of their duties, you should be willing and able to perform/comply with the following:

  • Climb various ladders and stairs to operate valves or perform maintenance on equipment.
  • Lifting and carrying loads.
  • Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain.
  • Work outside in tropical weather conditions.
  • Wear personal protective equipment, such as flame retardant clothing, eye protection, ear protection, steel-toed boots, hard hat, disposal overalls while performing certain jobs, etc.
  • Confined space entry.
  • Advanced fire fighting while wearing firefighting suits and making the use of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
  • Regular drills and simulations.
