Role Overview: Land Survey and Permitting Officer will be responsible to provide support to the Business Developer in his overall responsibilities specially in the field of Wayleaves /Permitting.

 

Role Overview:

Land Survey and Permitting Officer will be responsible to provide support to the Business Developer in his overall responsibilities specially in the field of Wayleaves /Permitting.

The incumbent will be responsible for the preparation of various aspects of the permitting phase, including obtaining the necessary permits and agreements for land use, such as wayleaves, easements, or other rights-of-way necessary for installing solar infrastructure.

He will also be responsible for liaising closely with Landowners and Local Authorities in the handling and processing of wayleaves. He will provide advice and guidance to external grantors and stakeholders, wayleave compensation payments. 

This role involves frequent site visits and flexibility on working hours.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To liaise and follow up with authorities, departments and private owners for wayleaves, whenever required
  • Wayleave Surveys
  • Assist in the preparation of Wayleave Agreements
  • Gather all KYC documentation for file preparation
  • Initiate negotiation with land owners for compensation
  • To process legal documentation, compensation, and fee payments
  • Organise signature before a Notary
  • Research and identify all required permits, licenses, and approvals for solar projects.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant institutions including local Authority in relation to land use, environmental protection, and construction.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, government officials, and stakeholders to facilitate the permitting process.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, local authorities, and landowners to address any issues and expedite the permitting process.
  • Monitor the progress of permit applications, follow up on any requests for additional information, and track approval timelines.
  • Maintain detailed records of permits, approvals
  • Provide support and guidance to project managers and development teams on permitting requirements and processes

 

Desired Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, land use planning, and permitting processes;
  • Previous experience in handling wayleaves is a plus, preferably in the renewable energy industry;
  • Preparation of a Cadastral plan;
  • Survey and delimitation of the boundaries of the lands;
  • Detailed surveys along the alignment showing roads, walls, buildings, existing services, watercourses, manholes, mature trees with their heights above ground level, telecom towers etc;
  • Searches for owners' land details affected by alignment, with their names, title deed transcription number, and contacts details;
  • Calculation of the extent of wayleaves required
  • All Administrative task in line with Applications for pin codes to the Ministry of Housing and Lands
  • Drawing up of registered survey reports for notary to draw up wayleave agreements.
  • Valuation, Environment, Planning, Property Law, Local Authority Structure
  • Previous experience in handling wayleaves would be an advantage
  • Degree in Business/ Management would be an advantage

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Diploma in Land Surveying/Geomatics
  • Strong Communications, interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Possess time management skills.
  • Self-disciplined
  • Conversant with Microsoft products and AutoCAD

Candidate must hold a valid driving license.
