IT Trainee

The IT Trainee performs computer operator functions in support of Constance Belle Mare Plage’s information communication and technology systems.

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the IT Trainee supports and assists the daily operations of information technology operations to maximize asset utilization, provide timely support to users. Maintains an accurate inventory of all hardware, software and documentation on all department procedures. Works a flexible shift, including nights, weekends and on-call support.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties and Responsibilities 

Responsibilities and duties for this position shall include, but not limited to the following areas and activities.  At management discretion, direction may be given for tasks outside the scope of work.

• Understand the issues involved with troubleshooting and basic management of corporate infrastructure, including network connectivity, Internet access, email, etc.
• To assist with the maintenance of the telephone system and phones.
• To assist in supporting corporate applications; internal corporate servers and user desktops.
• To assist with basic troubleshooting.
• To install and improve computer software and network equipment.
• To setup computers for new users.
• To answer all troubleshooting calls/emails and follow up for pending issues.
• To assist in the maintenance of internal systems such as MS Windows, MS Office, Apple OS, WISHNET, Prolific, Touch.
• To assist with the inventory management of software licenses, software, hardware and other IT supplies.
• To promote responsible usage and care of corporate equipment.
• Perform equipment repair, build cables, and replace boards and components to identify or remedy failures.
• To respond to equipment malfunctions by referring to operating instructions or advising supervisor of major malfunctions. May contact vendors for service call assistance in repairing or correcting equipment malfunctions.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Ability to diagnose hardware and/or software problems.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of data communication networks.
• Should be experience with Microsoft products. Must have a strong familiarity with PC hardware, software and peripherals in a Windows Server environment.
• Must possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Apple products and MAC OS.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Qualification

• Middle or Secondary Education + Additional  training or certificates in the relevant field is a plus .

Experience

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in hotel industry.
• Proven experience working in a top luxury resorts is a plus.
• Experience working in remote island locations is a plus.
• Experience with e-learning platforms is a plus.

Technical skills

• Knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tool.
• Strong computer skills.
• Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Fluency in English or another language, written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of a second language is a plus.
