Adecco is an International HR and Consultancy firm. Our client, an International Bank is looking for a Health and Safety Officer (contractual).
Reporting to the Head of CRE, the successful candidate will provide support with H & S matters and will be responsible for:
Main responsibilities:
- Plans, directs and controls identification, delivery and operation of Health & Safety (H&S) within a country in partnership with vendor providers to protect employees, customers, visitors and the general public.
- Oversees and drives compliance with both global standard H&S policies, procedures and protocols and H&S legislative and code of practice requirements within the country.
- Ensure a first-class H&S risk management control process within the Country to minimise accidents to employees, customers, visitors, contractors and the general public, and as a consequence raises the profile of H&S management.
- Together with the Country CRE team assess and document H&S risks and based on this to develop & then manage a Country H&S action plan.
- Provide professional advice, training & communications to ensure that employees at all levels understand their responsibilities and help them to conduct their activities in a safe manner.
- Identify all local H&S legislative requirements & ensure that the requirements are complied with and any non-compliance is remedied through the country action plan
- Ensure an appropriate H&S audit and inspection programme is implemented to ensure that Group & Country H&S standards, policies and regulatory requirements are met.
- Together with the Country CRE team measure and report on KPIs set by Group H&S.
- Ensure that all accidents and incidents are reported to the H&S Manager In Region, Authorities and other stakeholders in accordance with the incident reporting requirements and law. Assist the H&S Manager in Region with the investigation of all major incidents or serious accidents.
- Assess the need for resources to implement the H&S action plan, providing support to branch or subsidiary H&S coordinators or representatives;
- Ensure a process for two-way H&S communication is put in place with forums where relevant to ensure continued employee awareness. Ensure that a regular communication process is implemented to keep relevant parties updated on progress with H&S plans
- Ensure third parties meet / follow C H&S practices (e.g. risk assessment; method statement; permit to work etc); they are managed effectively; and that they provide a consistent and compliant first class H&S service.
- Ensure all new buildings / new refurbishment work meets Group H&S standards and 6 monthly building assessments are performed.
- Carry out the other duties of the Safety and Health Officer as per section 20 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005.
- Identify all local H&S legislative requirements & ensure that the requirements are complied with and any non-compliance is remedied through the country action plan
- Provide H&S consultancy and problem solving when required.
- Manage key third parties in their support of the H&S requirements
- Interaction with Country CRE team with regards to H&S requirements and incidents.
- Ensure that a Country risk assessment and Country action plan is in place covering: H&S policy requirements; local legal requirements; identified H&S risks and issues (H&S MSIIs, audit points).
- Apply for H&S related dispensations when required.
- Ensure that compliance with local H&S legal requirements, local H&S codes of practice H&S policy is achieved across the country and such compliance is documented and made available to the oversight Business Risk & Controls management (BRCM) team through Corporate Real Estate.
- Implement an effective risk assessment process across the country which both looks at H&S risk in each building but also looks at major H&S hazards - e.g. natural hazards (earthquakes etc), contractor safety, out of work event safety
- Collate H&S reports, incident statistics and KPI for their country and submit to Region and BRCM to agreed timescales. Ensure any regulatory H&S reporting is achieved.
