The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for the review, development, implementation and monitoring the Safety management systems to ensure the safety of staff.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards.
- Investigate accidents to identify their causes and find ways to prevent recurrence.
- Review and develop all aspects of the hotel’s Safety Policy and activity, and ensure that it is implemented consistently across the hotel.
- Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming Health and Safety legislation and ensure that the hotel has systems and procedures in place to meet legal requirements.
- Work proactively with managers and other key staff to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of Health and Safety within their areas of responsibility, which includes conducting regular audits.
- Ensure that rigorous risk assessments are carried out including stress risk assessment and ensure the effective implementation of the control measures.
- Maintain a central record of all risk assessments and monitor recording within Directorate and Resource areas.
- Discuss areas for improvement with relevant staff and/or external bodies and agree appropriate corrective action.
- Assist with fire risk assessments according to an agreed schedule and in line with legal requirements.
- Design and implement health surveillance programmes for the staff where required.
- Develop effective communication systems on occupational safety and health between management and any employee.
- Design and implement appropriate training programmes to meet the requirements of the OSHA 2005 and any other enactment dealing with occupational safety and health and keep proper records thereof.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Management from recognized universities.
- Familiar with local legislation.
- Minimum 3 years experience in similar position or at least 2 years experience in the hotel industry.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Pro-Active and able to visualize challenges globally.
- Ability to be sensitive to staff needs.
