BDO IT Consulting Ltd is recruiting a Data Privacy Specialist to assist our clients in building their Data Privacy Framework, in compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations, as well as to conform to international standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advise clients on the application of data protection laws such as the EU General DataProtection Regulation and the Mauritius Data Protection Act, and the ISO/IEC 27701:2019 standards;
- Assist clients by performing privacy assessments, reviewing the assessments' results obtained and elaborating mitigation strategies;
- Assist in drafting and reviewing of privacy policies, procedures and contracts for clients in line with data protection laws and industry best practices;
- Deliver data protection trainings ;
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable national and international data protection laws and regulations;
- Conduct pragmatic research related to all aspects of personal data protection;
- Any other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in the field.
- Master's degree in Law would be an advantage.
- In depth knowledge of data protection laws and practices, including the GDPR and privacy laws in the East African region.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

- Excellent communication skills (oral and written), particularly the ability to interpret and transform complex legislation and policies into effective and clear language aimed at target audiences;

- Self-starter and ability to act independently;
- Self-motivated and good planner:
- Strong attention to detail.
