Our client in the insurance sector is seeking to recruit an Accountant who will report to the Finance Manager. The incumbent will perform a central role in a finance team, focusing on preparing a company's financial reports.

 

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:
  • Preparation of accurate and timely reports including financial statements, monthly income statements and balance sheets.

Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Collaborate with management to develop budgets and financial forecasts based on historical data, industry trends and strategic goals.
  • Monitor budgetary performance throughout the year, identify deviations and recommend corrective actions to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Prepare periodic reports to compare budget v/s actual figures.

Cash flow management:
  • Manage cash flow efficiently, monitor and forecast cash flows, and maintain bank relationships.

Overseeing accounts payable:
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions related to accounts payable while maintaining strong relationship with vendors/insurers/internal stakeholders.
  • Implementing and enforcing accounts payable policies, procedures and control.

Internal Controls:
  • Develop and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard assets, ensure compliance with regulations, and mitigate fraud risks.

Audit support:
  • Assist internal and external auditors in conducting audits of financial policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Provides documentation, explanations, and evidence to support audit findings and recommendations.
Profiles:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • A professional qualification in Accounting and/or finance is an advantage.
  • At least 5 to 10 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Ethical and trustworthy.
  • Attention to details.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, numerical and logical reasoning skills.
  • Practical understanding of financial and accounting principles.
  • Ability to take decisions and work independently.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Treats the company’s information with confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Possess flexibility and adaptability to manage changing work requirements and varying volumes of work.
  • Ability to work co-operatively and effectively within the team and the company.
  • Being proactive, accountable and taking ownership of tasks assigned / duties to handle.
  • Good computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
