Are you an Hospitality Passionate? Are you seeking for new challenges? Shanti Maurice Resort & Spa is looking for a dynamic, passionate experienced Sommelier.

 

Position Profile/Job Purpose

To provide courteous and professional wine and beverage services in the restaurant. The Sommelier will be required to recommend and serve wines. Should manage the daily activities for maintenance and promotion of the Restaurants ‘wine collection. Be courteous and welcoming in serving the customers. Increase wine sales by demonstrating personal attention, consulting customers on fine wine selection. Work closely with the kitchen Chefs on wine and food pairing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain an attentive and proactive approach when it comes to offer a second round and ascertaining satisfaction with the product already served.
  • Ensures that company policy in regards to drinking age is followed and that the service of alcoholic beverages to obviously intoxicated guests is stopped in a tactful and appropriate manner.
  • Ensures that the restaurant is properly set and prepared to meet the daily business demands.
  • Ensures that all beverages are served at the correct temperatures.
  • To retain service standards in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maximize sales and up-sell with an aim to surpass the given sales targets.
  • Maximize cost control targets and revenue budgets.
  • Contribute to the profitability of the Restaurant by increasing sales and generating new revenue ideas.
  • Develop short-term and long-term financial and operational goals for the department, which supports the overall objectives of the restaurant.
  • Maintains par stock levels and maintain inventory control procedures.

Skills Qualifications

  • Fully certified Sommelier.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Sommelier in a 5* luxury property in Mauritius or abroad .
  • Profound knowledge in wine tasting and pairings. Must have good wine knowledge from the old and the new world.
  • Practical knowledge of beverage operations and service. Strong knowledge of wine service procedures
  • Be enthusiastic, sociable with a great personality and a love for food, wine, and hospitality.
  • Understand wine and food matching.
  • Passion for delivering outstanding customer service.
