We are seeking an Ecommerce Business Developer to lead the strategy of product categories on our ecommerce platform. This person will drive the product sourcing, pricing, promotions, online merchandising, and category performance to maximize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Category Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business goals and customer needs.
- Define product assortment, lifecycle, and pricing strategies to drive sales and margins.
- Monitor industry and competitor trends to adjust strategy.
- Assortment & Merchandising
- Ensure optimal product mix and availability online.
- Oversee product listing quality: images, descriptions, attributes, and SEO optimization.
- Enhance onsite navigation, filtering, and search relevance for better customer journeys.
- Promotions & Campaigns
- Plan and coordinate promotional campaigns with Marketing (seasonal sales, bundles, flash deals).
- Optimize category landing pages, banners, and deals to drive conversions.
- Work closely with suppliers/brands to negotiate trade deals and promotional support.
- Performance & Analytics
- Track KPIs: sales, margin, conversion rate, average basket size, and inventory turnover.
- Analyze performance by product and category to identify growth opportunities.
- Prepare monthly business reviews and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Collaboration
- Partner with Procurement, Marketing, Logistics, and Customer Service to ensure smooth execution.
- Liaise with suppliers for new product launches, promotions, and online visibility.
Tools & Systems
- Ecommerce Platforms: Magento / Shopify / WooCommerce or equivalent.
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4, Data Studio, BI dashboards.
- Merchandising & SEO: Tools for keyword analysis, search optimization, and content management.
- Collaboration: MS Office, Excel (advanced), Trello for project management.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Ecommerce, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in ecommerce, retail category management, or merchandising.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen with proven sales growth track record.
- Experience in managing supplier relationships and trade terms.
- Proficiency in ecommerce platforms and digital analytics tools.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
