Responsible for transporting cement/materials, performing vehicle checks, maintaining logs, following traffic laws, and assisting with loading. Requires 3+ years’ experience, valid heavy vehicle license, and knowledge of mechanics and hydraulics.
Role
- Transport of cement and raw materials to and from Terminal to Batching Plants or private sites
- Do pre-departure inspection of vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues. Should be versed in mechanic
- Able to read documents, work order and update driver’s log, record kilometers spent driving and retain fuel card.
- Comply with road traffic regulations for heavy truck driving rules and regulations (size, load, route designations, parking and rest periods) strictly follow company policies and procedures and apply defensive driving methods.
- Report all mechanical defects, accidents or near miss on sites.
- Collect and verify delivery documents, plan routes and meet delivery schedules on time.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading position, assist helper during cement loading and unloading process
Profile
- Holder of a School Certificate or Equivalent
- At least 3 years driving experience in similar position
- Holder of a valid driving license for heavy vehicle (trailer, tractor on wheels licence) without endorsement or recent road traffic violations
- Knowledge of Hydraulic and Heavy Vehicle mechanic and trailer driving techniques
