The Role:
The Senior System Engineer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimising IT infrastructure systems, servers, and virtualization environments. This role is essential in ensuring the availability, reliability, and security of enterprise systems, while providing technical guidance and support to teams and clients.
The ideal candidate is self-driven, proactive, and technically strong, able to manage complex systems independently while collaborating effectively with stakeholders.
Key responsibilies:
Manage, monitor, and maintain IT infrastructure systems and servers.
Ensure high availability and performance of virtualization and backup platforms.
Troubleshoot and resolve system hardware, software, and networking issues.
Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategies.
Install, configure, and maintain VMware virtualization environments.
Administer backup solutions and ensure reliable data recovery.
Monitor system health, performance, and security, implementing best practices.
Provide technical support to internal teams and clients.
Document system configurations, procedures, and support guides.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement IT projects and improvements.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., VMware, Microsoft, Backup technologies, hardware certifications).
Proven hands-on experience in:
Server and hardware management
Backup solutions and administration
VMware virtualization (installation, configuration, troubleshooting)
Exposure to or knowledge of Linux systems is an advantage.
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, and system security.
Experience with capacity planning, disaster recovery, and infrastructure upgrades.
