Health & Safety Officer

Avipro Co. Ltd company of the Eclosia Group, is a pioneer in the poultry sector in Mauritius. Its main activities are breeding and production, grouped respectively under the Farming and Processing entities.

The Health & Safety Officer will report directly to the HR & Talent Manager with a dotted-line reporting to the Group Safety & Health Manager and will provide day-to-day support across a range of H&S functions.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Develops and implements the company’s health and safety goals in alignment with the  Group strategies and legal requirements

• Conducts Occupational Safety & Health risk assessments, inspections & audits, at regular intervals, to identify risks to and propose appropriate mitigation measures to safeguard the safety & health of employees and other stakeholders

• Implements appropriate training programmes including hazard management, accident investigation, manual handling, fire safety, first aid, emergency response training, etc. and keeps proper records thereof

• Investigates and reports on all serious/critical personal injuries/accidents/hazardous conditions occurring at the workplace

• Works out on the monthly Health & Safety reports to be presented to Management Team & Group Safety & Health Manager

Profile

• Bsc (Hons) Occupational Safety and Health Management or any other recognised qualification

• Having at least 3 years’ experience in occupational safety & health at operational level in a manufacturing work environment with knowledge of relevant health and safety statutory requirements, regulations, codes of practice and guidelines and the ability to translate and apply these to a work environment

• Knowledge in ISO systems will be an advantage

• Dynamic, good interpersonal, problem solving, communication skills, pro-active and detailed oriented
