The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the United States of America is inviting applications for the position of chef at the official residence in Floréal.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent oversees the management of the kitchen; prepares meals for the family and their guests; suggests menus for and executes official receptions and events, purchases all food and handles relevant budget; facilitates supply of food and other materials required for official and non-official events; keeps the kitchen clean, sanitized, organized, and in good condition at all times; programs meals; arranges place settings in an elegant manner for official and non-official events, and, when necessary, manages service staff during large events.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Secondary school and vocational training in the hotel and restaurant industry and/or formal culinary training is required.
At least five years of culinary experience in a well-regarded establishment (such as a hotel, diplomatic mission, or company) is also required
Good working knowledge (level III) of English and French is desired
Incumbent should be knowledgeable in the smooth running of a hotel, restaurant, or residence, and well-versed in all areas of service, including hosting. They must be tactful and discreet and have good interpersonal skills, and should be familiar with different of styles of cooking.
