Mondrain Restoration Technicians

We are seeking dedicated and hardworking PART TIME field labourers to join our team at Mondrain Reserve, Henrietta. The role involves a variety of tasks aimed at maintaining and enhancing the natural beauty and health of the reserve.

Main Duties

1. Weed removal/control of invasive species, planting and watering.
2. Nursery work (preparing soil, potting, watering, weeding, carrying plants, carrying compost and other nursery materials) as may be directed by the supervisor.
3. Maintenance work (maintenance of fence, clearing paths, plant production, and various manual works related to the reserve) as may be required by the supervisor from time to time.
4. Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and storage areas.
5. Support the reserve staff in day-to-day operations and special projects.
6. Report any problems in work to the supervisor promptly.

Requirements

• Minimum CPE is preferred.
• Living in the locality of Vacoas/Phoenix/Floreal/Glen Park, close to Henrietta will be a significant advantage.
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in outdoor maintenance and construction.
• Previous experience in landscaping, construction, or similar fields is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively, independently and collaboratively.
• Strong work principle, reliability, and a positive attitude.

Location

Based at Mondrain.  Occasionally working at other conservation areas in and around Mauritius.

Conditions

The job is on a part-time and contractual basis. Start and finish times may be varied due to weather conditions.

The hours at work will be 5 hrs per day with 4.5 hours accounted as hours worked and 0.5 hour of lunch break.

Market rates payable with transport allowance.

Uniforms, tools, and equipment will be provided.
