We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Export Officer to join our operations team.

 

Department: Logistics 

Reports To: Sea Export Team Leader

 

Job Summary: 

The Sea Export Officer is responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of sea freight export shipments. This includes preparing documentation, liaising with shipping lines, ensuring compliance with international shipping regulations, and tracking shipments from origin to destination. The officer plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods, while maintaining cost-effectiveness and adhering to company policies.

 
Key Responsibilities:

 

*   Documentation: Preparing and processing export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin, others.

*   Booking and Coordination: Booking cargo space with shipping lines, coordinating with freight forwarders, and arranging for the transportation of goods to the port of loading.

*   Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all relevant international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.

*   Communication: Maintaining regular communication with suppliers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customers to provide updates on shipment status and resolve any issues. The candidate will be required to maintain an effective internal communication flow.

*   Cost Management: Negotiating rates with shipping lines and freight forwarders to ensure cost-effectiveness.

*   Tracking and Tracing: Monitoring shipments from origin to destination, tracking their progress, and resolving issues.

*   Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of all export shipments, including documentation, costs, and communication.

*   Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving any issues that may arise during the export process, such as documentation errors, delays, or damage to goods.

*   Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the export process.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in sea freight export operations
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations, customs requirements, and documentation
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Be prepared to work on odd hours

Salary:

  • Negotiable based on experience
