Position Summary The General Technician is responsible for carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks related to electrical, plumbing, and general hotel facilities
Carry out maintenance and repair work on electrical and plumbing systems, equipment, and installations.
Perform preventive maintenance checks and document all activities as per schedules.
Respond promptly to guest and departmental maintenance requests (day/night).
Inspect, diagnose, and repair faults in electrical systems (lighting, sockets, distribution panels, wiring).
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures (pipes, drains, sanitary systems, water heaters, pumps).
Monitor and record water, electricity, and energy consumption where required.
Check plant rooms, equipment, and utility areas during night rounds to ensure smooth operations.
Report and escalate major faults or breakdowns to the Maintenance Supervisor/Chief Engineer.
Assist contractors or specialists in repair/installation works when required.
Ensure tools and equipment are in good working order and safely stored after use.
Perform any other cognate duties assigned by supervisors.
Respond to guest maintenance requests politely, promptly, and efficiently.
Ensure guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities are maintained to hotel standards.
Support guest satisfaction by ensuring uninterrupted supply of utilities (water, electricity).
Contribute to positive guest experiences through proactive and discreet service.
Minimize wastage of materials, spare parts, and energy.
Handle tools, machinery, and equipment carefully to avoid damage and extra costs.
Follow proper procedures when requesting spare parts and materials.
Support energy-saving and water conservation initiatives.
Maintain positive communication and teamwork with colleagues across departments.
Respect grooming, hygiene, and hotel policies at all times.
Adhere to attendance, punctuality, and shift schedules (day/night).
Report incidents, accidents, or hazards immediately to the supervisor.
Participate in training sessions to improve technical knowledge and skills.
Comply with the Workers’ Rights Act, Occupational Safety & Health standards, and hotel policies.
Minimum SC qualification; vocational training or certification in Electrical/Plumbing preferred.
Previous experience as a technician in hotels, facilities, or building maintenance is an advantage.
Knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, and general maintenance procedures.
Ability to diagnose and solve technical issues independently.
Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
