Overview of Responsibilities

  • To perform all duties as designated by the HOD and be able to carry out the functions of the department during the HOD's absence
Minimum Academic / Technical / Professional Qualifications
  • Degree in Accounting
  • Microsoft Tools such as: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Well versed with PMS & Accounting software (Sun & Ametist)
Past Experiences
  • At least a minimum of 5 years' experience within the same field and position
Other Related Responsibilities - Sustainable Development (Planet 21)
  • Responsible to abide by the ACCOR Policy in regard to the Sustainable Development program (Planet 21)
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger
  • Manage the accounting team with their core duties and responsibilities
  • Ensure the reliability of the financial statement with schedules set in place
  • Implementation of an internal control system for accounting processes
  • Ensure the compliance with IFRS and IAS
  • Review and implementation of an accurate financial statement & financial position on a monthly basis
  • Management of the balance sheet and income, set as per deadlines
  • Monitoring of strict working capital & cash flow
  • Reconciliation of TB with the PL listing
  • Ensure that all contra accounts are cleared out on a monthly basis
  • Work out the monthly provisions to be booked as per group guidelines
  • Assist in the preparation of special statistical reports which may be required by local management, government authorities, and Regional Office
  • Maintain all necessary financial controls, systems, and processes to ensure accurate postings in the books
  • Complete and detailed review of all ledger balances & close monitoring of the FAR
  • Ensure that all accounting staff are fully aware of the Chart of Accounts
  • Management of a properly and accurately implemented accounting software
  • Ensure that all legislative documentation is kept and well filed
  • Guarantee submission of all taxes and returns on a timely basis and adequate filing of all required listings
  • Ensure that all processes and DOA in place are complied with
Budget / Monthly Forecast
  • Prepare departmental PLs as per Sun classifications on Excel for budget and forecast purposes
  • Assist the HOD in compiling departmental budgets, forecasts, and business plans
  • Input the approved budget figures into the Sun System
External Audit
  • Assist the external auditors
  • Ensure that the audit file is prepared well before the arrival of auditors
  • Communicate any discrepancies to the reporting head before points are mentioned in the management letter
Supervision & Other Duties
  • Be fully acquainted with the company's accounting system, its policies & procedures, and those of the hotel
  • Conduct weekly/regular departmental meetings and send minutes to HOD
  • Set guidelines and deadline dates for each employee's monthly work to ensure timely financial reporting
  • Filing and archive management
  • Ensure consistency and continuity of the accounting process and ensure no delay
  • Conduct yearly performance appraisals and provide employees with regular feedback on their performance
  • Project a positive and motivated attitude at all times and exercise self-control
  • Assist in building an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, and development.
  • Encourage good relationships with colleagues and all other departments
  • Ensure that all employees report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform/attire and nametag at all times
  • Ensure employees maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the hotel and department appearance standards
  • Control absenteeism
  • Ensure that all employees provide a friendly, courteous, and professional service at all times
  • Assist in training employees to ensure they have the necessary skills to perform their duties efficiently and productively
  • Ensure that all employees read and understand the hotel's Employee Handbook and adhere to the company's rules and regulations, especially regarding Fire, Hygiene, Health, and Safety
  • Respond to any departmental changes as dictated by the needs of the industry, brand, or hotel
  • Be flexible and carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within job capabilities as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments/areas if required to meet business demands and guest service needs
  • Attend trainings and meetings as and when required
  • Provide updated information to Management and other departments
  • Assess situations and react accordingly through analysis and perspective
  • Be available in front of guests and colleagues, and serve as an example for other employees
  • Ensure rosters are posted and timesheets are submitted on time
