Marlin Mercantile Limited is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to manage financial reporting, bookkeeping, and regulatory compliance for both the company and its clients. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, integrity, and a client-focused mindset.

 

Role Summary:

At Marlin Mercantile Limited, we pride ourselves on delivering bespoke financial and fiduciary services with integrity, precision, and care. As an Accountant within our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting both the company and its diverse portfolio of local and international clients through accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and proactive financial advice. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of financial discipline across various entities while working in close collaboration with our administrative and compliance teams.

This position demands attention to detail, strong analytical acumen, and a deep understanding of both domestic and international financial reporting standards. The role offers exposure to a wide array of corporate structures including GBCs, Authorised Companies, IBCs, and Trusts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Marlin Mercantile Limited and its clients in accordance with IFRS and local regulatory requirements.
  • Perform bookkeeping and reconciliation of accounts including bank reconciliations, payables, receivables, and intercompany balances.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal controls, processes, and financial reporting systems
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax, VAT, and regulatory filings in Mauritius and other applicable jurisdictions.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators during audits, reviews, or inspections.
  • Maintain financial records, ledgers, and supporting documentation in an organized and secure manner.
  • Review and analyse client budgets, forecasts, and management accounts as required.
  • Provide financial insights and reports to assist management and clients in decision-making.
  • Monitor cash flows and ensure timely execution of payments on behalf of clients.
  • Assist in structuring transactions and financial models in support of trust, investment, or holding structures.

  Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • ACCA-qualified or in the final stages of qualification.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within a management company, fiduciary firm, or professional services environment.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS, Mauritius Financial Reporting Standards, and regulatory filing requirements (e.g., MRA, FSC).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and accountability.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Client-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering accurate and timely results.
  • Exposure to multi-jurisdictional entities and tax structures will be an advantage.
