ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to support our finance team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, be proficient with financial software, and possess strong organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing journal entries for asset, liability, and capital account entries.
- Aid in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and basic risk analysis.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist with tax computations and the preparation of returns and financial statements.
- Help prepare periodic financial reports for Management.
- Support internal and external audits by gathering documentation and explaining financial transactions.
- Enter financial data accurately and ensure transaction records are complete.
- Reconcile accounts and investigate any discrepancies under supervision.
- Assist in preparing payment vouchers and verifying supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Maintain financial data integrity through regular backups and secure handling.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external parties.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes.
- Stay updated on relevant accounting practices and attend training sessions as needed.
- Performs these and other cognate duties as requested
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum ACCA Level 2, Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with accounting software is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
