Who is our client?

Our client is a newly established support services company that has been formed to better support and strengthen their long-standing Mauritian-based business as well as other global finance operations across their enterprise.

Role Overview
The Indirect Procurement Category Specialist is responsible for supporting the execution of category strategies while also managing operational procurement activities for Indirect Procurement categories such as HR, Talent Acquisition, Consulting, Legal Services, Travel Services. This role combines sourcing, contracting, procurement execution, and strategic analysis to drive cost efficiencies, supplier performance, and procurement excellence across a range of indirect procurement services. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, commercially astute, and capable of balancing transactional procurement with strategic category initiatives in a fast-paced and complex business environment.
Typical Responsibilities
1. Category Sourcing & Procurement Execution
  • Support sourcing strategies for Indirect Procurement categories (Consulting, Talent Acquisition, Legal, Travel, etc.).
  • Conduct market research, supplier analysis, and benchmarking for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Manage the full procurement process from supplier identification to contract award and PO creation.
  • Lead RFQ/RFP processes, ensuring compliance with policies.
2. Contracting & Supplier Negotiations
  • Negotiate pricing, SLAs, and contract terms to drive business value.
  • Work with Legal and Risk teams to ensure supplier contracts align with corporate policies.
  • Monitor contract performance and manage renewals, amendments, and renegotiations.
3. Supplier & Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships for service quality and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with business needs.
  • Participate in supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support supplier onboarding and ensure compliance with procurement policies.
4. Purchase Order (PO) & Transactional Procurement Management
  • Create and manage purchase orders in procurement systems, ensuring accuracy.
  • Ensure procurement transactions comply with financial controls and company policies.
  • Track requisitions, approvals, and invoicing issues, working with Accounts Payable and Finance teams.
5. Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze spend data and category performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and work on procurement efficiency projects.
  • Support automation and digitization to improve procurement operations.
What Makes a Great Candidate?
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
  • 3-6 years of procurement experience, ideally in Indirect Procurement categories.
Certifications (Preferred but not Required):
  • CIPS, CPSM, or relevant procurement/supply chain certifications.
Industry Exposure:
  • Experience in fast-paced industries such as Technology, Retail, FMCG, Manufacturing, or Financial Services is preferred.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in ERP & e-Procurement tools (SAP, Ariba, Coupa, Oracle, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with contract management systems and supplier risk management processes.
Procurement & Sourcing Expertise:
  • Strong understanding of strategic sourcing, supplier selection, and contract negotiation.
  • Familiar with category management methodologies and best practices.
Negotiation & Commercial Acumen:
  • Experienced in negotiating supplier contracts and pricing agreements.
  • Ability to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Stakeholder & Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Skilled at influencing business teams to align procurement with corporate goals.
  • Experience in supplier performance management and issue resolution.
Data-Driven Decision Making & Problem-Solving:
  • Proficient in analyzing spend data, supplier performance, and procurement trends.
  • Comfortable working with large datasets to inform category strategies.
Organizational & Time Management:
  • Capable of managing multiple sourcing projects, contracts, and purchase orders simultaneously.
