Title: Light Truck Driver
Department: Transportation/Logistics
Reports to: Transportation Supervisor/Manager
Job Summary: The Light Truck Driver is responsible for operating light-duty trucks to transport goods, materials, and equipment to various destinations. This role involves adhering to safety regulations, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and condition, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods. The Light Truck Driver must demonstrate good driving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operation:
- Safely operate light-duty trucks, such as vans or pickups, to transport goods and materials to designated locations.
- Follow all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the Transportation Supervisor/Manager promptly.
Delivery and Route Management:
- Plan and organize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
- Load and unload goods and materials onto/from the truck, ensuring proper handling and securement.
- Verify delivery instructions, addresses, and quantities before departure to ensure accuracy.
- Obtain necessary signatures or documentation upon delivery and ensure proper record-keeping.
Customer Service:
- Provide courteous and professional customer service during deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with customers to confirm delivery details and address any concerns or special instructions.
- Handle delivery discrepancies or customer inquiries with diplomacy and efficiency.
Maintenance and Care of Vehicle:
- Clean and maintain the interior and exterior of the truck regularly.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and general upkeep.
- Arrange for routine maintenance and repairs as needed, in coordination with the Transportation Supervisor/Manager.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Follow proper loading and unloading procedures to prevent accidents or damage to goods.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and ensure the safety of oneself and others at all times.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience as a light truck driver or similar role preferred.
- Familiarity with local roads, routes, and traffic patterns.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely and efficiently.
- Good communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Physical stamina and endurance to perform driving and manual labor tasks.
