Job Description

1. POSITION PURPOSE 

We are a looking for a Barman / Barista responsible for the preparation and service of beverages, non-alcoholic drinks, in accordance with established standards. The role ensures efficient bar operations, maintains product quality, and contributes to a positive guest experience.  The post will be based at Floreal , Curepipe at Volcan restaurant.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Beverage Preparation & Service 
• Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, hot drinks, and other specialty beverages. 
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning of all drinks served. 
• Take and process beverage orders accurately and efficiently. 
Maintain speed and quality of service during peak operational periods. 

Bar Operations 
• Ensure the bar area is organised, clean, and fully stocked at all times. 
Monitor stock levels of beverages, ingredients, and supplies and report shortages. 
Assist in stock rotation and proper storage of bar items. 

Guest Experience 
Provide professional and courteous service to guests at all times. 
• Offer recommendations and provide information on beverage selections. 
• Handle guest queries or concerns efficiently and escalate where necessary. 

Hygiene & Compliance 
Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the bar area. 
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and Company procedures. 
• Handle all food and beverage items in accordance with established hygiene practices. 

Equipment Management 
• Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of bar equipment, including coffee machines, blenders, and related tools. 
• Report any malfunction, damage, or loss of equipment to the Head of Department or any deputised person. 
• Ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained in proper working condition. 

Cash Handling & Sales Support (where applicable) 
• Assist in billing processes and handling of payments when required. 
• Promote beverage items, specials, and upselling opportunities. 


Coordination & Team Support 
• Work closely with service and kitchen teams to ensure smooth operations. 
• Support colleagues and contribute to a positive and efficient working environment.
