Job Description

1. POSITION PURPOSE

The Head of IT is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the organisation’s information technology function. The role ensures the effective operation of IT systems, infrastructure, and services, while driving innovation and digital transformation.

This position oversees all IT-related activities, supports business operations, and is responsible for developing and structuring the IT department, including future capabilities such as software development.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

IT Strategy & Leadership 
• Define and implement the organisation’s IT strategy aligned with business objectives. 
• Provide leadership and direction for all IT functions and initiatives. 
Identify opportunities for digital transformation and process optimisation.

IT Operations & Infrastructure 
• Oversee all IT systems, servers, networks, and infrastructure. 
• Ensure systems are reliable, secure, and operating efficiently. 
• Supervise and support existing IT personnel and ensure continuity of service.

Department Development 
• Build and structure the IT department to meet operational and strategic needs. 
Identify resource requirements and lead recruitment (e.g., software engineer, IT support staff). 
Establish processes, policies, and standards for IT operations.

Systems & Software Management 
• Oversee implementation, integration, and maintenance of business systems. 
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies to support business growth. 
• Support development or integration of software solutions where required.

Cybersecurity & Compliance 
• Ensure data protection, system security, and compliance with relevant regulations. 
• Implement and monitor IT security policies and risk management practices.

Vendor & Project Management 
• Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers. 
• Oversee IT projects to ensure timely and effective delivery.

Operational Support 
• Act as the main point of contact for all IT-related matters across departments. 
• Ensure minimal disruption to operations and quick resolution of technical issues.

Operational Support Clause

The Head of IT may be required, where operationally necessary and within reasonable limits, to support other departments or business initiatives, particularly during system implementations, upgrades, or critical operational periods.
