Overview of the job

As a Draughtsman, you shall assist the Design and Project Engineers in preparing technical drawings and documentation for solar projects. The role is office-based and involves supporting the design team on both small-scale and large-scale PV projects. You will be responsible for producing, revising, and updating drawings based on the instructions and design inputs provided by the engineers.

Experience & Skills Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and a methodical working approach

• Good knowledge of CAD software for preparing and revising technical drawings

• Good understanding of civil, mechanical and electrical drawing requirements related to solar farm works

• Ability to understand and follow design engineer instructions, comments and mark-ups accurately

• Good organisational skills and document control awareness

• Ability to work effectively within an engineering and drafting team

• Good written communication for internal notes, drawing transmittals and reporting of site observations

• Good time management and the ability to work to deadlines

• Flexible, disciplined and able to adapt quickly to drawing revisions and project changes

• Self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision within the limits of assigned drafting duties

Main Responsibilities

• Prepare technical drawings for solar farm projects based on sketches, mark-ups, redlines, calculations and instructions issued by the Design Engineer

• Produce and revise drawings such as site layouts, general arrangement drawings, mounting structure layouts, trench and cable routing drawings, equipment layouts, foundation details, sections, elevations and as-built drawings

• Carry out site visits when required to take measurements, record visible site conditions and note physical constraints relevant to drafting work

• Convert site information and engineering inputs into clear and accurate CAD drawings

• Update drawings following comments from the Design Engineer and ensure that all revisions are properly incorporated

• Maintain drawing registers, revision histories and document numbering in accordance with company procedures

• Prepare drawing sheets with the correct format, title block, dimensions, scales, notes and references

• Assist in extracting dimensions, quantities and drawing-based material take-offs when requested by the engineering team

• Ensure that issued drawings are clear, coordinated and suitable for construction, fabrication or submission purposes

• Work closely with internal engineers and project team members only, for the purpose of drafting coordination and document updates
