Job Description

Job Summary:
The Customs Clerk is responsible for preparing and processing import/export documentation, verifying customs requirements and bills, and ensuring smooth clearance of shipments in compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit customs declarations and required shipping documents.
  • Verify invoices, bills, permits, and shipping documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct verification with customs authorities regarding shipment requirements, duties, and clearance procedures.
  • Coordinate with customs officers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and clients for timely clearance.
  • Check and verify customs bills, duties, taxes, and other related charges before processing payments.
  • Track shipment status and provide updates to clients/internal departments.
  • Resolve customs-related discrepancies, delays, or documentation issues.
  • Maintain proper records of customs transactions and documentation.
  • Assist in obtaining permits, approvals, and licenses when required.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of customs clearance procedures and shipping documentation.
  • Familiarity with customs regulations and billing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and customs systems.
  • Previous experience in logistics/customs clearance is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse operations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
  • Previous warehouse experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
